We’ve been spending a lot of time outside so far this summer. While I’m loving all the extra Vitamin D that we’re getting, I’m not diggin’ the bug and mosquito bites at all! I’ve been keeping a bottle of purification essential oil on hand to help with bug bites (which works wonderfully). While we were preparing to head out to river I throw together an all natural bug spray to protect my babies and I from the mosquitoes waiting to feast on us. This spray works well, especially when it comes to keeping away mosquitoes!
Homemade All Natural Bug Spray
What you’ll need:
- 1 – 4 ounces bottle (like this one)
- 2 ounces unscented witch hazel
- 2 ounces distilled water or fractionated coconut oil
- 25 drops Purification essential oil (buy here)
- 10 drops Lavender or Thieves essential oil (buy here)*
*Lavender essential oil is considered a safe essential oil to use on children. Thieves essential oil is considered safe if diluted with a carrier oil (like the fractionated coconut oil called for in this recipe).
Pour all the ingredients into the spray bottle. Twist on the cap and shake well. Always shake to mix oils together before using.
