Homemade Cleaning Wipes with Essential Oils

In March I ordered my Premium Starter Kit of Pure Therapeutic Essential Oils from Young Living. I was thrilled to try essential oils in every way possible! The oil that I used up first was the Thieves Oil. This essential oils is pretty amazing! It’s an oil blend that is highly antiviral, antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-infectious. I’ve used Thieves Oil in all my homemade cleaners. It’s works wonderfully and it smells amazing!

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. You’ll want to wash and dry your material before you start this project.
  2. Cut the material into squares making sure to cut each square approximately the same size.
  3. Pile the squares and place them into storage container or glass jar. I rolled the cloth squares so that I could easily pull the wipes out of my glass jar.
  4. Mix the water, castile soap and essential oil together and pour over wipes.
  5. Cover container or jar with lid.
  6. These wipes will keep for up to 3 months. Happy cleaning!

    Hi,

I am just wondering how you came up with the ratios of water to Castile soap to EOs?? I see a lot of different recipes online, and I’m just curious if there is any rhyme or reason to the amounts people choose and which ones are actually effective at killing bacteria and viruses? Does Young Living or any of the essential oils have any research showing what ratios are needed to be effective?

No, not really. I just made up a few batches and this was the one I liked most. You don’t need to use a lot of essential oils since they’re so potent. I tend to use less than what I usually see recommended in recipes.

Oh how I love Thieves oil. I use it when I start feeling sickly. Two drops in a bit of honey and I feel better almost instantly!

I also use the spray when I fly, I hate taking off shoes in those dirty airports!!

I will have to try this idea, thanks for sharing!

Have you tried this with paper towels? Curious how they would hold up, looking for something to keep in my car.

How much material did you use with the “recipe”? And I like this because I am thinking the wipes can be washed and reused, but wondering how the oils would affect the washer?

Hi Jeri! Sadly I didn’t measure the material. I have been washing and reusing the wipes. The essential oils don’t affect the wipes at all.
