- Transfer the mixture into a shaker bottle (a spice jar or metal shaker works great).
- Lightly sprinkle the baking soda mixture over your carpets, covering all areas, especially near edges and walls.
- For deeper penetration, use a push broom to work the baking soda into the carpet fibers.
- Let it sit for at least 8 hours or overnight to absorb odors effectively.
- Vacuum thoroughly, going over the carpet multiple times to remove all the baking soda.
- Empty the vacuum canister or replace the bag, as baking soda can clog filters.
Repeat this process every few months or as needed to maintain fresh-smelling carpets between deep cleanings.
