This homemade fabric softener is a simple, budget-friendly, and eco-conscious alternative that keeps your clothes soft and fresh.

Ingredients

3 cups vinegar
1/2 cup baking soda
Essential oil (optional)

Instructions

Pour the vinegar into a large bowl. Add your essential oils if using (about 10-15 drops).
Carefully add the baking soda to the vinegar, little by little. Be prepared—it will fizz! Let the mixture settle before proceeding.
Once the fizzing has subsided, pour the mixture into a large jar or bottle for easy storage.
Add 1/2 cup to 1 cup of this homemade fabric softener per load of laundry. Pour it into the fabric softener dispenser or directly into the rinse cycle. Shake before each use to mix the essential oils into the fabric softener.
