To make ginger extract, you will need the following:
Step 1: Start by washing the fresh ginger root under cold water to remove dirt or debris. Once clean, use a knife to peel off the outer skin. Then, chop the ginger into slices.
Step 2: Take the glass jar or bottle and fill it with the chopped ginger. Pour enough vodka into the jar to cover the ginger completely. Make sure the ginger is fully submerged in the vodka. Secure the lid tightly on the jar.
Step 4: Place the jar in a cool, dark place like a pantry or cupboard. Allow the ginger to infuse in the vodka for at least two weeks. I did the entire six weeks for a potent extract. During this time, shake the jar gently every few days to help enhance the extraction process.
Step 5: Place a mesh strainer or cheesecloth over a clean bowl or container. Carefully pour the contents of the jar through the strainer, allowing the liquid to separate from the ginger. Discard the ginger remnants.
Step 6: Transfer the strained ginger extract into a clean glass bottle or container with a tight-fitting lid. Store the bottle in a cool, dark place.
