Vegan Frosting Recipe (Naturally Colored)



  1. In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the powdered sugar and palm shortening together.
  2. Add in the almond milk, 1 tablespoon at a time until the frosting is smooth and creamy.
  3. Mix in the vanilla extract.

Adding Color:

  1. I divided the frosting into three bowls (1 cup each) and added beetroot powder in one bowl and matcha in the other, leaving one bowl plain.
  2. I used 2 teaspoons of matcha powder to color the frosting green. Add more or less to get your desired color.
  3. For the beetroot, I also used 2 teaspoons of powder to color the frosting red(ish). Add more or less to get the color you’d like.


Nutrition data is based on using organic powdered sugar. The frosting will be sugar free if you use powdered monk fruit sweetener.
