Whether you’re lactose intolerant or following a plant-based diet, homemade Brazil nut milk is a perfect choice. This delightful beverage is crafted using simple and wholesome ingredients, including raw Brazil nuts, filtered water, and dates.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Soak the dates for a minimum of two hours, or up to 8 hours if possible.
  2. Drain the soak water and transfer the soaked dates to a high-speed blender or food processor. Add the Brazil nuts, 4 cups of water, a pinch of sea salt, and the optional pitted dates.
  3. Blend on high speed for 30-60 seconds, ensuring all ingredients are well combined. Scrape down the sides of the blender if necessary, continuing to blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  4. Line a fine mesh strainer with cheesecloth or use a nut milk bag to strain the nut pulp from the milk. Strain thoroughly to achieve a smooth consistency.
  5. Transfer the creamy nut milk to an airtight container, and refrigerate it for up to 7 days. Alternatively, you can freeze it for up to two months.

Notes

Note: Brazil nuts are high in selenium and should be consumed in limited amounts.
