Learn how to make your own flaxseed gel for hair with this simple DIY. This homemade hair gel is made with natural ingredients that will leave your hair feeling soft.

  1. Add the water and flaxseeds into a medium-sized pot. Heat over medium-high and bring to a simmer.
  2. Simmer gently, stirring constantly for 8-10 minutes.
  3. As you stir, you’ll notice that the flax water begins to thicken and gel. Once the liquid becomes sticky and looks like mucus, it’s ready.
  4. Remove the pot from the heat and allow it to cool for 30 minutes to an hour.
  5. Once cooled, pour the flax gel through cheesecloth or a pair of clean pantyhose.
  6. Squeeze the gel through the strainer, leaving the flaxseeds in the cloth.
  7. Pour the gel into a hair dispenser container or glass jar.
  8. Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
