Ingredients
4 cups filtered water
1 cup walnuts
Instructions
Add your walnuts to a large bowl and cover with water. Set aside and allow to soak for 8 hours or overnight.
After 8 hours, drain the walnuts and rinse once more.
Transfer the drained walnuts to your blender. Blend on high until you reach a breadcrumb texture. Do not overblend, otherwise your machine will produce nut butter!
Add 4 cups of filtered water and blend again until the mixture is milky and white.
Strain in a nut milk bag or over a sieve lined with multiple layers of cheesecloth. Squeeze the cheesecloth to get all the milk out of the blended nuts.
Remove and discard the solids. Add any optional flavorings here, such as a pinch of salt and a tablespoon of maple syrup. Place the walnut milk in a covered glass container and store in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Notes
This recipe makes about 3½ cups of walnut milk.
Save your walnut soaking water and add it to your houseplants! Your plants will love the nutritious boost.
