Instructions

Lavender-Infused Oil:

Long infuse method: Add 1/3 cup of lavender into a jar and top with the carrier oil. Cover with a lid and leave in a cool dark place for 4-6 weeks. Strain the lavender from the oil and pour into a clean container.

Short infusion method: Add 1/3 cup of lavender into a jar and top with the carrier oil. Cover with a lid and place in the bottom of a crock pot. Fill the bottom of the pot with a few inches of water and heat on warm for 4-6 hours. Once infused, remove the oil from the water bath and strain the lavender from the oil.

Body Butter Instructions:

  1. Warm the cocoa butter and coconut oil in a double boiler over medium heat.
  2. Once both oils melt, remove the pot from the heat and add the lavender infused oil, arrow root powder, and essential oils.
  3. Use a whisk to incorporate the arrowroot powder into the oils.
  4. Pour the warm oil into a medium size glass or metal bowl and place in the refrigerator for an hour or until the oils harden. You may also place the oils into a mixing bowl if you plan to use a stand mixer to whip the body butter.
  5. Once set, remove the bowl from the refrigerator.
  6. Use an electric mixer to whip the body butter. Whip until the body butter is creamy and light.
  7. Do a skin test to check the application. If it’s too greasy, you can add another teaspoon of arrowroot powder or corn starch to the bowl. Continue to whip until you reach desired texture, but don’t over whip or the oils will melt and the butter will loose it’s texture.
  8. Use a spatula to scoop the body butter out of the bowl and into the body butter container. Cover with a lid and store the body butter in a cool dry place.
