This Homemade Vanilla Body Butter is a fantastic addition to your body care routine, offering amazing hydration with a delicious scent!
3/4 cup coconut oil, unrefined or virgin
1/2 cup cocoa butter
1 tablespoon vitamin E oil
1 vanilla bean
Optional: 10 drops essential oil (lavender or orange)
Melt the coconut oil and cocoa butter in a double boiler over low heat.
Once melted, remove front heat and let cool until semi-solid, but still soft (~2 hours). Move to the fridge to hasten the process.
While the mixture is cooling, blitz the vanilla bean into very fine pieces using a coffee bean grinder or small food processor.
When the mixture is semi-solid, use a standing or handheld mixer with whisk attachments to whip the mixture into a fluffy cream.
Add the vanilla bean, vitamin E oil, and essential oils (if using). Whip to incorporate.
Scoop the body butter into an airtight jar. Store in a cool, dry place for up to six months. Use it daily for hydrated, gorgeous skin!
Because actual vanilla bean is used in this recipe, there will be small bits left on your skin that do not absorb. If this will bother you, replace the vanilla bean with 2 teaspoons of vanilla essential oil.
