Intro

Popeyes is well-known for its delicious Louisiana-style chicken and fantastic biscuits.
(I actually used to eat Popeyes every time I helped someone move into a new apartment – it gave me the energy and general “push” I needed to lift all those sofas and bookshelves!)
And if you are lucky enough to live in one of these seven cities, you’re about to get better access to what I really think is the best fried chicken out there.
Because Popeyes is expanding!

Big plans

As of the end of 2023, Popeyes had around 3,400 locations (mostly in the US and Canada)…
And now it plans to grow to 4,200+ by 2028.
That’s a LOT more fried chicken options coming for underserved US customers.
And here are seven that have either just opened or are about to:

#1: Wyoming, Michigan

Yes, there’s a city called Wyoming, Michigan.
It’s a suburb of Grand Rapids, and it’s about to get a new Popeyes on 28th street.
The Wyoming Planning Commission approved their land use permit in September, so I’d expect an opening sometime in 2025.

#2: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Myrtle Beach got its newest Popeyes on October 29th, when Popeyes added its third restaurant to the Grand Strand.
(The first opened in 2016.)
Drive a little further inland, and you can get the same amazing food (probably with shorter lines) at the Popeyes in Conway.

#3: Lewiston, Maine

Maine has just three Popeyes to serve the whole state, so Lewiston’s addition will be a welcome one.
The other locations are in Kennebunkport, West Gardiner, and South Portland.

#4: Greenville, South Carolina

Greenville is about to get its fourth Popeyes, where the newest addition (slated for 516 Haywood Drive) will join incumbents in Greer, Mauldin, and at the corner of Haywood and Timmons in Greenville.
(There are also two Popeyes in nearby Spartanburg. South Carolinians love their Cajun chicken!)

#5: Overland Park, Kansas

This new Popeyes is Overland Park’s very first, so that’s exciting.
Previous to opening in Overland Park, the next-nearest Popeyes were in Olathe, Shawnee, and Lenexa.
Kansas in general doesn’t have a ton of Popeyes outside of Kansas City – even Topeka only has one!

#6: Louisville, Kentucky

More specifically, this newest Popeyes – which opened in July – serves west Louisville.
This is also the eighth in the greater Louisville region, so residents have lots of choices to get that amazing chicken!

#7: Middleburg Heights, Ohio

Middleburg Heights will get its first Popeyes after the planning commission gave permission for Popeyes to start building earlier this year.
Currently residents have to drive up to Lorain Avenue, east into Cleveland, or west into North Olmstead to get their chicken fix.
That changes soon!
