It’s a tough time to be in many businesses – especially a food business – in Arkansas.

So it’s no surprise (but still a huge disappointment) to see Arkansas losing another grocery store.
More specifically, Hays Supermarket in Blytheville recently closed, removing an important source of choice for local residents.
Given that grocery stores are low-margin businesses in the best of times – and these are certainly not the best of times – there are likely more losses coming.
Between food inflation, labor shortages, and the consumer spending pullback…2025 is shaping up to be a rough year.
