Beloved Colorado restaurant closes after 22 years as owner says its journey has ‘run its beautiful course’

Denver’s restaurant scene is saying goodbye to another longtime favorite.

After serving neighborhood diners, celebrating countless milestones, and helping shape the city’s chef-driven dining scene, Table 6 has announced it will permanently close next month, ending a 22-year run.

A neighborhood institution prepares to say goodbye

Located in Denver’s Alamo Placita neighborhood, Table 6 confirmed that its final day of service would be July 9. Owner and chef Aniedra Nichols said the decision was not driven by a single event, but by a sense that the restaurant had reached the end of its chapter. 

“This is just a story of knowing when something has run its beautiful course,” Nichols told Westword, adding that Table 6 became the neighborhood gathering place she had always envisioned. The restaurant welcomed guests celebrating first dates, anniversaries, birthdays, promotions, and everyday dinners that became lasting memories. 

A lasting impact on Denver’s dining scene

Table 6 first opened in 2004 in a former Beehive restaurant space on Corona Street. Founded by chef Aaron Whitcomb, the American bistro quickly earned acclaim for its inventive menu that blended approachable comfort food with refined culinary techniques. The restaurant became an early standout in Denver’s emerging chef-driven dining movement, helping pave the way for many of the independent restaurants that followed.

Nichols, who took over ownership in 2023, said she has sold the restaurant to new owners. However, the space will reopen under a different concept, bringing the Table 6 name to an end after more than two decades. The identity of the new restaurant has not yet been announced. 

The closure adds to a growing list of longtime Denver restaurants shutting their doors this summer, reflecting the ongoing challenges facing independent operators despite the city’s vibrant dining scene. For many loyal customers, however, Table 6’s legacy will be measured not only by its food, but also by the memories created around its tables over the past 22 years.
