Washington has lost another longtime dining landmark amid a difficult year for restaurants across the state. Arnies Restaurant on the Edmonds waterfront permanently closed after 45 years in business, surprising customers who arrived to find a closure notice on the door.
The notice said the restaurant closed effective September 21, 2026, and blamed the current business climate for making continued operation impossible. FOX 13 Seattle reported that customers were still pulling into the restaurant the following evening, unaware that a decades-old local tradition had ended.

Seafood with one of Edmondsโ best views
Arnies built much of its identity around its waterfront setting. Diners looked out toward the marina and Puget Sound while eating seafood, and longtime customers frequently paired the meal with the view itself. Former patrons interviewed after the closure remembered seeing boats from the windows and coming specifically for the setting as well as the food.
The restaurantโs own website had promoted seafood served against some of Edmondsโ most recognizable waterfront scenery. Sunday brunch also became a tradition for some families, with fruit, warm baked goods and brunch drinks accompanying the water view.
A restaurant for milestones
The farewell notice thanked customers for the memories they had made at Arnies over the years, mentioning first dates, holidays, birthdays, proposals and anniversaries among them. After 45 years, the restaurant had become a familiar setting for generations of customers marking important moments.
That personal connection was something restaurant partner Rob Davis had talked about years before the closing. He described the relationship with the community as something that went beyond a normal business transaction. That helps explain why the sudden ending landed so hard with customers who had expected the waterfront dining room to keep going.
The last Arnies closes
The Edmonds restaurantโs closure also appears to end the Arnies name as an operating restaurant. A sister location in Mukilteo had already closed in 2023, leaving Edmonds as the remaining home of the longtime local brand.
The restaurant did not release a detailed financial breakdown, so it would be speculation to assign the closing to any one cost or trend beyond the partnersโ reference to the business climate. What is certain is the length of the run: 45 years of seafood dinners, brunches and sunset celebrations on the waterfront. For Edmonds, the loss is not just another vacant restaurant space. It is the end of a place that had become part of the view.
