Buc-ee’s is such an epic gas station experience that every new location is a mini news event.
So you can imagine the joy when a state that’s never before been lucky enough to house a Buc-ee’s gets THREE!
Let’s get to updates on all three of Virginia’s locations, starting with the one that just opened…the first ever in Virginia!
Rockingham County, VA (Open!)
Where it’s located: 6500 Buc-ee’s Blvd, Mount Crawford, Virginia 22841 (on I-81 near Harrisonburg)
Buc-ee’s fans got to enter the store a few weeks ago at 6AM on June 30.
It’s a huge Buc-ee’s at over 70,000 square feet and 120 fueling pumps.
If you think 6AM is too early, people literally camped out in their cars the day before or got in line hours before, in the middle of the night.
Some of these folks got Rockingham County Buc-ee’s t-shirts and, of course, bragging rights.
New Kent County
Where it will be located: Exit 211 off I-64 (in between Richmond and Virginia Beach)
Buc-ee’s is part of the reason the state gave New Kent a $20 million investment for its Interchange Improvement Project (which is estimated at $94 million in total) to make the exit accessible for all the new traffic to Buc-ee’s and other new developments like AutoZone and Target distribution centers.
This location was originally expected in 2025, but due to delays (e.g. the exit enhancement), it’s now expected to be 2027.
Stafford County
Where it will be located: Along I-95 in Stafford, VA, which is a suburb of DC.
This location will be perfect for residents of Northern Virginia and DC as well as tourists. This one is still going through the permitting process, so its opening date is hard to tell.
Bonus fourth location?
There is a dated press release from S.L. Nusbaum Realty that there will be a fourth Virginia location. But there are no other relevant details, and as any Buc-ee’s follower knows, there are always twists and turns.
