This task force brings together state, local, and federal agencies to work collaboratively in addressing the issue. Key participants include the Department of Cannabis Control (DCC), the Department of Fish and Wildlife (DFW), and the Homeland Security Division of Cal OES. The Department of Fish & Wildlife (DFW) recently carried out a series of operations targeting illegal cannabis cultivation, resulting in the seizure of over $97 million worth of illegal cannabis. As part of the effort, officials served 47 search warrants, eradicated 101,473 illegal cannabis plants, and confiscated 8,340 pounds of processed cannabis. Additionally, 11 firearms were seized, and 9 individuals were arrested. Alongside cracking down on illegal activity, the DFW also addressed the environmental harm caused by these operations, including issues like water diversion and the use of harmful pesticides.
