Chick-fil-A foods some customers say they would skip

Chick-fil-A has plenty of devoted fans, but even the popular fast-food chain has menu items that some customers say they would rather skip. Recent discussions on Reddit reveal complaints about everything from dry chicken to soggy fries, with some longtime customers saying the chain’s food quality has changed.

Waffle fries

Chick-fil-A’s waffle fries may be one of its most recognizable menu items, but they have attracted plenty of criticism from customers online. 

In a 2025 Reddit discussion, one customer called the new fries “terrible,” particularly criticizing their texture. Other commenters agreed, while some said they actually preferred the newer version, showing that opinions are far from unanimous. 

Another highly discussed Reddit thread included customers saying the new fries were too hard, lacked flavor, and weren’t as good as the previous version. 

Chicken sandwich

The chain’s signature chicken sandwich also has critics.

In a 2024 Reddit discussion, customers complained that the chicken had become dry and lacked flavor. One commenter said the chicken was incredibly dry, while another said it used to be juicier. 

Grilled chicken sandwich

The grilled chicken sandwich doesn’t escape criticism, either. Some customers have discussed finding grilled chicken less appealing because of its texture or lack of flavor compared with Chick-fil-A’s fried chicken options. 

The sandwich buns

The sandwich bun is another part of the Chick-fil-A experience that some customers say has changed. In a Reddit discussion about the chain’s food quality, multiple customers said the buns seemed different, with complaints that they were tougher, drier, more crumbly, or had a more processed taste. 

One commenter said the new buns reminded them of cafeteria food, while another described them as tasting like a cheaper-quality bun. Chick-fil-A customers have also offered different explanations for the change, but the company has not confirmed a bun recipe change in the discussion. 

Customer opinions vary

These complaints shouldn’t be interpreted as evidence that the foods are universally unpopular. Reddit discussions also contain plenty of customers who continue to enjoy Chick-fil-A’s fries and chicken. 

Still, the recurring complaints about the waffle fries and chicken sandwiches show that even some of Chick-fil-A’s most recognizable menu items have their detractors.
