Florida customers looking for their favorite biscuit sandwiches recently arrived at two Maple Street Biscuit Company restaurants only to find the doors permanently closed. The abrupt shutdowns came just one day after Cracker Barrel announced it was selling the popular breakfast chain and exiting the business entirely.
Two Florida restaurants have closed
The two affected Florida locations were in Northeast Florida: the Maple Street Biscuit Company at 1627 Racetrack Road in Jacksonville and the restaurant at 39 Cordova St. in St. Augustine.
Both locations permanently closed on July 21, 2026, according to local reports and outgoing voicemail messages at the restaurants. Neither location was included in the sale of 35 Maple Street Biscuit Company restaurants to Biscuit Belly, meaning they will not be converted into Biscuit Belly restaurants.
What happens to the other Florida locations?
Not every Maple Street restaurant in the Jacksonville area is disappearing.
Three other area restaurants — at 2004 San Marco Blvd. and 8358 Point Meadows Drive in Jacksonville, and 1960 East West Parkway in Fleming Island — were included in the sale to Biscuit Belly. Those restaurants are expected to eventually operate under the Biscuit Belly name.
Biscuit Belly purchased the assets associated with 35 Maple Street locations from Cracker Barrel. The company plans to convert those restaurants to its own brand over the next 18 to 24 months.
A complete exit from Maple Street
Cracker Barrel announced July 20 that it was selling Maple Street Biscuit Company and closing the remaining 16 locations that were not included in the sale. The move marks Cracker Barrel’s complete exit from the fast-casual breakfast concept.
For Florida fans, the sudden closures mean two more locations of the Jacksonville-born chain have disappeared, while several others are poised for a new chapter under Biscuit Belly.
