A Florida restaurant served its final customers under a familiar name last weekend, marking another step toward the disappearance of a once-popular dining chain. The location won’t stay vacant for long, however, as its parent company prepares to replace it with another restaurant brand.
Bahama Breeze location closed October 17
The Bahama Breeze restaurant at 499 E. Altamonte Drive in Altamonte Springs, Florida, was scheduled to close October 17.
The restaurant is part of a broader decision by Darden Restaurants to phase out the Bahama Breeze brand. Earlier this year, the company announced that it would permanently close 14 locations and convert the remaining 14 restaurants to other brands in its portfolio.
Darden said Bahama Breeze was no longer a strategic priority as it evaluated how to use its restaurant properties across its business.
Yard House will take over the location
Following the closure, the Altamonte Springs restaurant is expected to reopen as Yard House on November 18. The new concept will bring a different dining experience to the property, with Yard House known for its extensive beer selection and American-style menu.
Yard House is also owned by Darden, which operates several other well-known restaurant chains, including Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, and The Capital Grille.
The conversion allows Darden to retain the existing restaurant site while shifting its focus to another brand in its portfolio.
More Bahama Breeze changes are coming
The Altamonte Springs closure is not an isolated development. Other Bahama Breeze locations are also scheduled to close temporarily for conversion into different Darden-owned concepts.
A restaurant in Charleston, South Carolina, is expected to become a Chuy’s, while another location in Lutz, Florida, is slated to reopen as Yard House.
Darden has said it intends to support affected employees, including placing as many as possible in positions elsewhere within its restaurant portfolio.
As the transition continues into 2027, the remaining Bahama Breeze locations will gradually disappear, bringing an end to the brand’s presence in the United States.
