Intro

Snickers has long been incredibly popular in America.
Whether that’s the great taste or the great marketing (or, really, a bit of both), Snickers sometimes feels like one of the few things most Americans can agree on.
However, let’s face it – every competitor is stepping up their game, and there are a lot of great candy bars these days.

Introduction (continued)

…including several whose fans would say they’re certainly better than Snickers at this point!
Are they right?
Well, that’s up to you to decide.
But let’s hop right in, starting with one of my personal favorites…

Milky Way

I don’t think this one should be terribly controversial – Milky Ways are like Snickers, but with more chocolate and caramel.
What’s not to love?

100 Grand

The thing I love best about 100 Grand is the consistency – thanks to the crisped rice, you get crunch throughout, in addition to the dominant chocolate and caramel flavors.
And really, aren’t candy bars all about (delicious) consistency?

Twix

I didn’t love Twix for a long time, because the crunchy cookie part threw me off.
It felt…too crunchy? Do you know what I mean?
But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve come around to its fans’ point of view that it’s genuinely one of the best candy bars out there.
(And an estimated $300+ million in sales in 2023 – yes, that’s how much Twix raked in – highlight that a lot of people agree with me!)

Butterfinger

I’ve always been a sucker for the crunchy filling in the middle of a Butterfinger – you know, the stuff that everyone says will rot your teeth off.
(So far, mine are just fine.)
That crunchy stuff, by the way? The crunch comes from corn flakes. Who would have guessed?

Kit Kat

There will probably be someone out there who argues that you can’t really compare Kit Kat to Snickers, because one has caramel and one doesn’t.
That person is wrong.
When you’re in the grocery store aisle, which do you reach for?
I love how straightforward and bold Kit Kat’s flavors are. (And the marketing campaigns over the years have been great, too.)

Kinder Bueno

Kinder’s bueno bars are that beautiful combination of chocolate, hazelnut, and crunch – all with that special Ferrero taste.
Kinder bars were a special treat when I was younger, because you couldn’t get them easily.
Now they’re still a special treat, but I eat them a lot more!

Three Musketeers

I’ve always had a weakness for that whipped marshmallow-y filling in Three Musketeers bars.
They’re just so good.
(And if you’re counting calories, they’re generally a little lower than most of the others – probably because they don’t have caramel!)

Baby Ruth

Baby Ruth bars are a lot like Snickers, but with peanuts.
And that extra bit of peanutty taste and texture just makes all the difference.
One of the most indulgent chocolate bars from my childhood!

Snickers

Ok, I know this article was about Snickers losing ground to some of its competition, but I just could not leave without giving Snickers its due.
There’s a reason so many people use it as a yardstick – it’s a great chocolate bar!
Tons of caramel, delicious chocolate, it’s the whole package.

Summary

So there you have it – a handful of candy bars whose partisans would claim they’re better than Snickers.
And each of them has a legitimate argument to make!
But here’s the real question…
