
A familiar name in Minnesota dining has quietly reached the end of its local chapter. After decades of serving pasta, sandwiches, and neighborhood favorites, one beloved restaurant brand has officially exited the state.
End of an era for D’Amico & Sons
D’Amico & Sons has permanently closed its final two Minnesota restaurants in Edina and Golden Valley, ending the company’s longtime presence in its home market. The closures took effect on March 28, 2026, when leases for both locations expired and ownership chose not to renew them.
The company announced the decision on social media, with many devastated fans expressing their sadness at the closures.
A brand with deep Minnesota roots
The first D’Amico & Sons opened in Minneapolis’ Uptown neighborhood in 1994. Over the years, the fast-casual Italian concept expanded significantly, at one point operating more than a dozen restaurants across the Twin Cities and Naples.
Known for pasta dishes, salads, sandwiches, and family-friendly dining, the chain became a staple for many Minnesota residents. Its closure marks the end of more than 30 years of operations in the state.
What happens next?
While the Minnesota restaurant locations are now gone, the D’Amico name is not disappearing entirely. The company’s catering and events division, D’Amico Hospitality, will continue operating in the Twin Cities under longtime partner Paul Smith.
Meanwhile, founders Richard and Larry D’Amico are shifting focus to their Florida restaurants, including Campiello, The Club Room at Campiello, and The Continental.
Another sign of restaurant industry pressure
The closure comes as many regional restaurant brands continue reevaluating leases, staffing, and operating costs. For Minnesota diners, however, this one feels especially personal — the end of a local favorite that helped define casual Italian dining for a generation.
