Fresh off losing three factories, New York is unfortunately about to lose a fourth.
This time the impacted locality is Yonkers -where American Sugar Refining is closing down the Domino Sugar plant with plans to lay off approximately 300 employees.

This plant has been a longtime pillar of the community, as it has been a sugar refinery for over 130 years.
That legacy will wrap up by the end of 2025 when the plant closes down – given the general decline of the American sugar industry, there probably won’t be another refinery taking over.
What are we gonna do with all these empty factories?
