Aldi’s 2026 growth plan ranks among the most ambitious in the grocery industry. The company is targeting new locations across dozens of states while also converting former Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket stores acquired through a major transaction completed in recent years.
The expansion builds on Aldi’s long-term goal of operating 3,200 U.S. stores by the end of 2028.

Focus on high-growth regions
Many of the planned openings are expected to be concentrated in the Southeast and Southwest, regions that have experienced significant population growth in recent years.
Florida remains a key market, particularly as former Winn-Dixie locations are remodeled and converted into Aldi stores. Additional openings are planned in states including Texas, Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina, and other areas where demand for discount grocery options continues to rise.
The company is also entering some new communities for the first time, bringing additional competition to local grocery markets.
