Pizza lovers in parts of Ohio are suddenly finding several familiar restaurants closed. 13 Domino’s locations across North Central Ohio have shut down after the franchisee that operated them was no longer part of the pizza chain’s system.
13 Ohio restaurants close
The affected Domino’s restaurants were operated by Mile High Pizza Company, an Ohio-based franchisee owned by Anthony Satterwhite. The company abruptly closed 13 locations in September, according to Restaurant Dive and Nation’s Restaurant News.
The shuttered restaurants are located in communities including Mansfield, Canal Fulton, Ashland, Galion, Crestline, Akron, Barberton, Mount Gilead, and Wadsworth.
Domino’s characterized the situation as an “isolated franchisee matter” and said the closures do not reflect the overall performance of the national brand. The company said it is working to transition the affected restaurants to new ownership so that the locations can potentially resume serving customers.
Franchisee operated dozens of restaurants
Mile High Pizza had expanded rapidly in recent years. According to Domino’s most recent franchise disclosure document, Satterwhite had 21 Domino’s locations open at the end of 2025, with another four locations in development.
There has been no bankruptcy filing associated with the closures, according to Nation’s Restaurant News.
The closures are notable because restaurant shutdowns within Domino’s franchise system have been relatively uncommon. The company finished 2025 with 7,186 U.S. locations and has continued targeting additional domestic store growth.
Domino’s seeks new owners
For customers in the affected Ohio communities, the future of the individual restaurants remains uncertain.
Domino’s says it is actively working to transfer the stores to new franchise ownership. If successful, some or all of the locations could eventually reopen under new operators.
For now, the sudden closures leave 13 Ohio communities without their local Domino’s locations while the company works through the ownership transition.
