Buc-ee’s may still be a Texas treasure, but a new national survey just revealed something few fans saw coming: the beaver-branded travel stop is no longer America’s top-rated convenience store!
According to the 2025 American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) report, Buc-ee’s has slipped behind four competitors in overall customer satisfaction — a major shake-up in the rankings that once had Buc-ee’s near the top.

Buc-ee’s falls to fifth place
The ACSI’s latest study, released in October 2025, scored each major convenience-store chain on a 100-point scale based on thousands of customer interviews across the country.
Here’s how the top five stack up this year:
- Kwik Trip – 84
- Sheetz – 82
- Wawa – 82
- QuikTrip – 80
- Buc-ee’s – 79
That puts Buc-ee’s fifth in the nation — still a strong score, but a noticeable drop behind chains known for smaller footprints and more day-to-day convenience.
What’s behind the drop?
Buc-ee’s stores are famous for their massive size, sparkling clean bathrooms, brisket sandwiches, and shelves of snacks and souvenirs. But while travelers adore the Texas-based brand, the ACSI report suggests that everyday customers are increasingly valuing other features — especially mobile apps, quick service, and digital ordering.
The report notes that chains like Kwik Trip, Sheetz, and Wawa have surged thanks to strong digital experiences and made-to-order food programs. Buc-ee’s has strong food in general, but the digital arena is a particular weak point – it doesn’t even have an app.
Another possible factor: as Buc-ee’s expands beyond Texas into the Midwest, Southeast, and now Louisiana, keeping a consistent experience across states could be more challenging.
Still a road trip icon
Even with the slip, Buc-ee’s remains one of America’s most beloved travel stops. The company continues to expand aggressively, building “mega” locations in Wisconsin, Louisiana, and Tennessee — with new stores usually measuring over 70,000 square feet with more than 100 gas pumps.
So, while Buc-ee’s may not currently top the customer-satisfaction charts, it’s far from losing its crown as a cultural phenomenon.
The bottom line
For now, Buc-ee’s superfans might be shocked to see their favorite road stop edged out by four rivals. But if there’s one thing Texans know about Buc-ee’s — it’s that this brand doesn’t stay in second place for long.
With new stores opening and innovation on the way, don’t be surprised if the Beaver makes a big comeback in next year’s rankings.
