Tennessee’s next Buc-ee’s is rapidly taking shape in Murfreesboro, and the company has confirmed that it expects to open before the end of 2026. The project is the next step in Buc-ee’s effort to expand from East Tennessee into the middle and western parts of the state.
The travel center is being built beside Interstate 24 at the Joe B. Jackson Parkway exit, approximately 35 miles southeast of downtown Nashville.
Plans call for a 74,000-square-foot store with 120 fueling positions, approximately 490 automobile parking spaces and 15 spaces for buses and recreational vehicles.
Customers should get nearly the entire Buc-ee’s experience—barbecue, jerky, fudge, Beaver Nuggets, bakery items, merchandise and the company’s famously large bathrooms—but the current plans do not include a car wash.
Is November 16 the official opening date?
Recent local reports have identified November 16, 2026, as a tentative opening date.
Buc-ee’s has not publicly declared that date final. The company’s official schedule continues to list Murfreesboro simply for 2026, while a company media representative and Murfreesboro Mayor Shane McFarland have confirmed that the store should open by the end of the year.
That makes November 16 a credible target, but not yet a guaranteed grand-opening date. Construction, inspections and final staffing could still push the opening into December.
Hiring is another sign that the opening is close
Buc-ee’s has begun recruiting managers and other employees for the Murfreesboro store. A large hiring event is scheduled from September 29 through October 1 at The View at the Fountains.
The company is expected to create roughly 250 full-time jobs at the location.
Before construction could move forward, significant road improvements were needed around the interchange. Those projects included changes to local streets, the interchange and a roundabout. According to Murfreesboro’s mayor, Buc-ee’s paid for the improvements without city, county or state funding.
Tennessee has another Buc-ee’s coming after Murfreesboro
Tennessee currently has two open stores: Crossville along I-40 and the Sevierville-area location in Kodak near the Great Smoky Mountains.
Murfreesboro will become the third.
A fourth Tennessee store is under development in Gallaway, about 40 minutes from Memphis. That project has been delayed from its original 2026 target and is now expected sometime in 2027.
For now, Murfreesboro is clearly next. The store is under construction, hiring is underway and Buc-ee’s says it will open before the end of 2026—even if the exact day remains subject to change.
