A longtime Texas beer maker is preparing to leave the local craft-brewing scene, following another Texas brewery closure earlier this year. Brazos Valley Brewing Company in Brenham announced that it had accepted an offer on its property and designated Saturday, October 10, 2026, as its taproom’s last day.
The company shared the decision in a September 28 announcement, thanking the people who had supported it over more than a decade. Its closing date has now passed, but a newer statement independently confirming the final day of operations was not located.
A property offer prompted the decision
Brazos Valley Brewing’s announcement said the owners had accepted an offer for the property and decided to close the business. The brewery did not provide a detailed explanation of the deal or say whether the sale had formally closed. Local station KWHI and the Houston-area publication Chron both reported the announcement shortly after it appeared.
The brewery and taproom are located at 206 South Jackson Street in Brenham, a Washington County community between Houston and Austin. The site is more than a production facility: it also became a gathering spot for live music, trivia, family outings and casual food alongside locally made beer.
Neither the company announcement nor the local reports specified a number of jobs being eliminated. There has also been no verified announcement of a replacement location or a plan to continue making its beers elsewhere.

From garage batches to a bigger brewery
Brazos Valley Brewing traces its beginnings to 2013, when Josh Bass, Jeremy Bass and Nelson Pena were making beer on a small scale. The venture first operated near downtown Brenham on West First Street before expanding to its larger South Jackson Street property.
According to Brenham and Washington County’s economic development organization, the larger building was completed in 2020 to accommodate more brewing capacity and a family-friendly setting. The brewery’s website describes 24 taps, an outdoor playground, beer-to-go options and tours available by request.
Its best-known beers included Mama Tried IPA and 7 Spanish Angels coffee ale. Over time, Brazos Valley Brewing products also reached stores beyond Brenham, giving the small-town operation an audience in larger Texas markets.
What happens after the announced last day?
The September 28 farewell message invited customers back for live music and a final pint before the October 10 deadline. The company has not issued a publicly verifiable update explaining what happens next to its recipes, brewing equipment or former taproom space.
As of October 13, the brewery’s website still displayed its old regular hours, so those listings should not be taken as proof that it remains open. What is confirmed is the company’s decision to close and its announced final date; the exact completion of the shutdown and any job losses remain unconfirmed.
