September 26, 2024 | Leave a CommentThe Top 10 Starbucks States (#4 is a Shocker!) Intro How much do we love Starbucks? There are now more Starbucks locations in the U.S. than there are McDonald’s! So we’re counting down the states with the most Starbucks love … #4 on this list might shock you…until you think about it a little. Methodology: ScrapeHero collects this information, we assume off the Starbucks Store Locator, which is the ultimate source of truth and updated information. Let’s go on our coffee run across America! #10 Ohio Locations: 502 Even the #10 state has over 500 locations…yowza! Fun fact: Ohio alone has more stores now than Starbucks did overall when it opened its first drive-thru location back in 1994! #9 Colorado Locations: 506 Colorado is one of the most densely Starbucks-ed states on this list, meaning it has more Starbucks per person than any top 10 state except one (we’ll reveal that one soon!) If you’re wondering, yes, there are almost 100 more Starbucks than breweries in Colorado. #8 Virginia Locations: 510 California gets all the pub, but Virginia has over 300 wineries. Still, just as Starbucks beats breweries in Colorado, it beats wineries in Virginia! #7 Arizona Locations: 580 Arizona’s another state that you wouldn’t have guessed just based on population. Despite the heat, Arizonans seem to love their coffee … we’re guessing iced? #6 Illinois Locations: 697 If it plays in Peoria, it’ll work across the U.S. Hence the city’s traditional use as a test market. Well, there are over a dozen Starbucks in Peoria, so we think this concept just may work! 🙂 #5 New York Locations: 723 There are only nine Starbucks Reserve Roastery locations, and three of them are located in New York City, including one in the Empire State Building! If you’re unfamiliar, these are Starbucks’ higher-end “wow” locations. #4 Washington Locations: 735 The first Starbucks was famously located in Seattle’s Pike Place Market, and Starbucks HQ is still in Seattle. So it makes sense that Washington has the most Starbucks per capita of any state in our top 10! #3 Florida Locations: 898 Even for Floridians, they don’t have a Cafe Cubano on the Starbucks menu, but you could come close with various barista requests. Starbucks has an at-home recipe, too. #2 Texas Locations: 1,414 Everything is indeed grande-er in Texas, and it’s one of only two states with over 1,000 Starbucks locations! Two Texas cities rank in the top 10 for Starbucks locations by city: Houston and Dallas. #1 California Locations: 3,133 California wins by a landslide! It has as many Starbucks as the next three states combined! Put another way, almost 1 in 5 U.S. Starbucks are in the Golden State. Not only is Cali the most populous state, but it has a high per capita rate of Starbucks…a tough combination to beat! Recap 10) Ohio 9) Colorado 8) Virginia 7) Arizona 6) Illinois 5) New York 4) Washington 3) Florida 2) Texas 1) California Now let’s go grab a Starbucks!
