Chick-fil-A has built a reputation for offering healthier fast-food options than many of its competitors, thanks to grilled chicken, fresh salads, and fruit sides. But not every item on the menu is a nutritious choice. Some meals are loaded with calories, saturated fat, sodium, or sugar, making them best enjoyed as an occasional indulgence rather than an everyday lunch.
Here are three of the least healthy menu items based on Chick-fil-A’s published nutrition information.
Sausage, Egg & Cheese Biscuit
The Sausage, Egg & Cheese Biscuit packs 620 calories, 42 grams of fat, and 1,510 milligrams of sodium. While it delivers plenty of protein, it also contains nearly two-thirds of the recommended daily sodium limit for most adults before you’ve even added a side. The combination of sausage, biscuit, and cheese makes this one of the chain’s heaviest breakfast offerings.
Cookies & Cream Milkshake
Dessert can quickly turn an otherwise balanced meal into a sugar bomb. Chick-fil-A’s Cookies & Cream Milkshake contains 630 calories, 25 grams of fat, and an eye-popping 84 grams of sugar. For comparison, the American Heart Association recommends limiting added sugar to no more than 25 grams per day for most people, and one milkshake easily exceeds those recommendations.
Cobb Salad with Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing
Salads are often viewed as the healthiest menu choice, but toppings and dressing can tell a different story. Chick-fil-A’s Cobb Salad is already substantial with crispy chicken, bacon, cheese, eggs, and corn. Add the Avocado Lime Ranch dressing, and the meal climbs to roughly 850 calories, 60 grams of fat, and more than 2,000 milligrams of sodium, making it one of the most calorie-dense entrées on the menu.
That doesn’t mean these items have to be off-limits. Enjoying them occasionally can fit into an overall balanced diet. If you’re looking for lighter options, Chick-fil-A also offers grilled chicken entrées, fruit cups, and salads paired with lighter dressings that can significantly reduce calories, fat, and sodium.
