Intro

Do you love Chili’s?
Of course you do.
They’ve done an amazing job of turning things around in the last few years, even if they had to get rid of quite a few fan favorite dishes along the way.
But let’s face it – if you’re counting calories, it can be incredibly difficult to find great-tasting food at most American chains.
Fortunately…

Intro (continued)

Chili’s actually makes it pretty easy.
If you know what you’re doing.
I spent some time researching the best options for under 700 calories, and let me tell you –
You genuinely CAN eat like a king at Chili’s for under 700 calories.
You don’t have to give up on steak, fajitas, or burgers.
You just have to be smart about it.
So here are 10 ways you can eat like a king at Chili’s for under 700 calories, starting with:

#1: Surf & turf sirloin (10 oz)

A steak + shrimp for under 700 calories? Yes please!
In fact, the surf & turf sirloin goes for just 450 calories on its own, and you get two sides.
While fries (420 calories) or mac & cheese (270 calories) will push you right over that 700-calorie limit…there are loads of great options that won’t.
Let’s explore them briefly:

Side options

Chili’s fortunately has plenty of low-calorie sides, including:
– Asparagus (35 calories)
– Steamed broccoli (40 calories)
– Garlic butter mushrooms (110 calories)
– Black beans (120 calories)
– Mexican rice (160 calories)
– Sweet corn on the cob (180 calories)
You’ve got 250 calories to play around with, so there are plenty of combos that will work here.

#2: Classic 10 oz sirloin

This steak runs just 390 calories, which means you have an additional 310 calories to play with for sides.
That opens up options like mashed potatoes (260 calories) and white cheddar mac & cheese (270 calories) as long as you get something low-cal as your second side (like asparagus or steamed broccoli).
Plus, it’s just a good, big steak. Like, 10 ounces is a big meal.
And after all, you’re eating like a king, right?

#3: Classic 6 ounce sirloin

A six-ounce sirloin is a little light of a meal all on its own, but at 250 calories for the steak, you can get a couple of really heavy sides with your 450-calorie budget.
My two cents? Do the white cheddar mac & cheese and corn on the cob, then treat yourself to a little chocolate when you get home!

#4: Guiltless sirloin (10 ounce)

Chili’s 10 ounce guiltless sirloin is served with roasted asparagus (so, just the one side), and, all-in, the meal comes to just 450 calories.
So you could add an extra side…or order yourself a beer, and you’ll be just fine.

#5: Guiltless sirloin (6 ounce)

Chili’s six ounce guiltless sirloin is served with roasted asparagus…and the whole meal comes to just 300 calories.
I mean, feel free to get the mac & cheese with it, too. You’ll still be well under 700 calories.
Ok, enough steaks! Here are some other options that’ll have you feeling like royalty:

#6: Santa Fe Salad

At 530 calories, the Santa Fe salad may not sound like a big meal, but I can tell you from personal experience that that perception is wrong!
This is a true entree-sized salad with chicken, guacamole, tortilla strips, and tons of other toppings and flavors. It’s zesty, has a hint of spice, and makes for a great meal.
And again, at just 530 calories!

#7: Veggie Santa Fe Burger

That’s right, you can get a burger at Chili’s for under 700 calories – that’s the veggie Santa Fe burger, which has a black bean patty, pepper jack cheese, guacamole, and loads of other fixings (jalapenos, pickles, a spicy Santa Fe sauce, and more).
It’s a delicious burger with a real southwestern kick, and it weighs in at 610 calories, so you can still get some side options with it.
And it’s proof that you don’t have to sacrifice taste just because you’re counting calories.

#8: Ancho salmon

The ancho salmon has a beautiful flavor and a nice hint of heat to it.
Add in Mexican rise and steamed broccoli (which is what’s offered standard with the meal), and you have a big portion for just 620 calories.
And of course, with those extra 80 calories, you could swap out the broccoli for something a little more appetizing.
Lots of great options!

#9: Margarita grilled chicken

I feel like the margarita grilled chicken is a nice nod back to Chili’s longtime roots in fajitas and delicious tex-mex food.
The chicken comes with pico, tortilla strips, black beans, and Mexican rice – all for just 630 calories.
It’s a big meal! One might even say…fit for a king.

#10: Shrimp fajitas (modified)

You’re gonna have to bear with me on this one, because it could get a little complex…
But the payoff is delicious shrimp fajitas.
Ok, so shrimp fajitas as shared run 940 calories. Obviously that’s well beyond our 700-calorie budget.
However, if you ignore the rice and black beans and skip the sour cream…
That is – you still have the cheese, pico, peppers, onions, guac and (most importantly) the shrimp and corn tortillas…
You should be coming in right around 670 calories by my math.
So you get all the best parts of the fajitas…while still staying under your 700-calorie limit.
I mean, that sounds pretty good, right?
