Intro

I bet you know the feeling…
You go to Costco with a full grocery list, confident that you know everything you need and (more importantly) where to find it…
Only to discover that one of the pillars of your longtime Costco shopping list is suddenly out of stock!
You ask around only to discover that it’s not just a one-off…
But it’s gone forever (like at Trader Joe’s)…

Intro (continued)

Of course, not everything can stay at Costco forever. I get that.
But I’ve gotta say – losing some of these really hurt.
Starting with…

The All-American Chocolate Cake

This cake was incredible – four layers of chocolate cake with a rich, dense, fudge-y frosting.
If you like chocolate, this was absolutely THE cake for you.
Unfortunately, it went the way of the dinosaur in 2020, to be replaced by a measly two-layer chocolate cake (although that cake does at least have chocolate mousse as a filling).
As a consolation prize, it’s not terrible – but I’d rather they just brought back the original!

MacFarms Salted Caramel Milk Chocolate Macadamias

Macadamia nuts are already pretty indulgent on their own.
Add chocolate and salted caramel? Well, then you’ve got something REALLY special.
This was an amazing product while it lasted, and I’m so sad to see it gone.

Nightingale Ice Cream Sandwiches

I swear I’ll get off the sweets here in a second and talk about some other stuff, but lordy these Nightingale ice cream sandwiches were amazing.
They came in a box of something like two dozen, and for a stupidly cheap price. (Nightingale ice cream sandwiches usually cost $5-$6 each when you buy them retail, and you can get them delivered from their site for…a whopping $8.50 per. Ridiculous.)
Such great savings for an item so many of my friends absolutely love. So sad it’s gone!

Kirkland Signature Turkey Burgers

These turkey burgers tasted great, and perhaps more importantly – you could cook them straight from frozen.
So they were quick and convenient – and just 200 calories a piece.

Polish dogs

Hot dogs and sauerkraut are a combination I never thought I’d love.
Until I tried a Polish dog at Costco. (Which is thicker than the typical Costco hot dog.)
It was amazing.
Unfortunately, it’s now all gone – probably forever.

Kirkland Strawberry Margarita

This ready-to-drink strawberry margarita was sweet – REALLY sweet – but if it proved to be too much, you could just add a splash of lime juice.
This was a great and very affordably-priced cocktail.
(If you’ve had their lime margarita, which IS still available, they came out around the same time.)
Bring back the strawberry margarita for Spring!

Kirkland Take-and-Bake Pizza

These were great.
If you like Costco pizza (and you should), but you didn’t like it getting cold by the time you got home…
Well, this was a good solution.
Was it as good as getting the pizza fresh from the food court? Of course not.
But it certainly was a great dinner at home.

Kirkland Signature Organic Chocolate Banana Almond Beverage Drink

This was one of those “non-dairy beverages” that flooded the market a few years back, but unlike most of them, Kirkland’s was actually good.
Like, REALLY good.
My child has food allergies, and this was a go-to for us.
(There are rumors of a few cases still being available at Costco, but lord knows I can’t seem to find any.)
Shutterstock
Kirkland Signature Light Beer

It was no Bud Light, but Kirkland Signature light beer was also a heck of a lot cheaper.
(You were paying less than $0.50 a can.)
I’m not gonna say it was delicious, but hard to beat the price!
Shutterstock
Kirkland Signature American Cheese Slices

Kirkland Signature American cheese slices tasted just like Kraft but was a heck of a lot cheaper.
Weirdly enough, while it’s not available in the states, I’ve heard you can still get them in a few foreign countries.
So if you’re doing an American-style barbecue in South Korea, feel free to go grab a pack.

Kirkland Signature Fruit & Nut Medley

I’ve always been a sucker for trail mix, and this was delightful.
Sadly, it went away almost a decade ago now.

Food Court Churros

I was so disappointed to see Costco discontinue its beloved food court churros last year.
They were crispy, sugary, and all around perfect. Another lost item!

Summary

So there you have it – 11 beloved Costco products that have disappeared, probably forever.
And of course – Costco adds all kinds of new products all the time, which lessens the blow.
But still – what I really want to know is…
