Florida shoppers have a new reason to slow down before grabbing dinner from the freezer or snacks from the pantry. As grocery prices keep families watching every dollar, several recent food recalls are now hitting products sold in Florida or distributed nationwide, including frozen cheese bread, chips, mushrooms, sunflower seeds and chocolate snacks.

Recalled frozen foods
The biggest one to check first may be in the freezer.
Champion Foods is recalling certain batches of Motor City Pizza Co. 5 Cheese Bread because of possible Salmonella contamination tied to a recalled milk powder ingredient. The product was sold nationwide at major retailers, including Costco, Walmart, Kroger, Target and Publix, making this one especially relevant for Florida shoppers. The affected single packs have UPC 87037500511 and sell-by dates from February 2027 through April 2027; the 2-packs have UPC 870375005098 and sell-by dates from February 2027 through March 2027.
Another recall has a very direct Florida connection. HH Fresh Trading recalled 150-gram bags of enoki mushrooms after the product tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. The FDA notice says the mushrooms were distributed to Texas and Florida wholesalers, and that the recall began after a Florida health department test found Listeria in the product. The affected mushrooms are sold in plastic 150g bags under the HH Fresh Trading brand, with code 4711498860002.
Impacted snacks
Snack aisles are also part of the recall wave.
Utz Quality Foods recalled multiple varieties of Zapp’s and Dirty potato chips because a seasoning ingredient containing dry milk powder may have Salmonella risk. The recall is broader than a single flavor: on the Zapp’s side, it covers Bayou Blackened Ranch, Salt and Vinegar, and Big Cheezy chips in 1.5-ounce, 2.5-ounce and 8-ounce bags. On the Dirty side, it covers Salt and Vinegar, Maui Onion and Sour Cream & Onion chips in 2-ounce bags. Only products with best-by dates in July and August 2026 are affected — shoppers should check the full list of UPCs and batch codes on the FDA notice before discarding. The company said no illnesses had been reported at the time of the notice.
For shoppers with tree nut allergies, George J. Howe Co. recalled more than 13,000 pounds of sunflower seeds because they may contain undeclared cashews. The products were distributed across 23 states, including Florida, primarily through foodservice accounts, specialty retailers, independent grocers and institutional customers, as well as select chains such as Walmart, Giant Eagle and Piggly Wiggly. Florida shoppers are most likely to have encountered this product through foodservice or specialty retail rather than a major grocery chain. Recalled products include lightly salted and no-salt sunflower seeds in 11-ounce pouches, plus 9.5-ounce tubs of roasted and salted sunflower seeds, with specific UPCs and best-by dates listed in the recall.
And allergy-sensitive households should also check for SkinnyDipped Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Bites. Bazzini, a co-manufacturer used by SkinnyDipped, recalled certain lots because the product may contain undeclared peanuts. The recalled bites were distributed nationwide through retailers and some were also given out as complimentary samples. The recall covers multiple package sizes, with best-by dates in December 2026.
The advice is the same across these recalls: do not eat the affected product. Check the UPC, lot code, best-by or sell-by date, and return the item to the store or contact the company listed in the recall notice.
For Florida families, the practical question is simple: Is it already in your kitchen? With frozen foods, chips, pantry snacks and specialty produce all on the list, this is one of those recall rounds worth checking before the next meal, snack, or grocery run.
