Chick-fil-A may have recently lost the top spot in one major customer-satisfaction ranking, but a newer Reddit discussion is focused on a different question: why can the same chain cost noticeably more depending on where you order?
In a September 30 Reddit post with more than 160 upvotes, a user shared a fast-food price comparison project and said Chick-fil-A showed “a massive range in price” between locations. Commenters quickly began checking restaurants near them and comparing the differences.

Chick-fil-A says prices do vary by restaurant
This is one Reddit claim that has a straightforward company explanation. Chick-fil-A’s own customer-support pages state that menu prices vary at each restaurant location. The chain tells customers to choose a specific restaurant in its app or website to see that store’s current prices, and it separately warns that delivery menu prices are higher than in-restaurant prices.
That means a screenshot from one city is not a reliable national price. It also explains why some commenters said the Chick-fil-A restaurants near them were only a few cents apart while others saw a much wider spread. Stadiums, airports, expensive urban markets and delivery orders can make comparisons even messier. Chick-fil-A also says delivery menu prices are typically higher than prices at the restaurant.
Some customers see the variation as normal
The Reddit thread was not dominated by outrage. Several people called the comparison tool useful, especially for travel, while another commenter said regional price differences were not surprising because labor and operating costs change from market to market. One user noted that their three nearby Chick-fil-A restaurants were priced within just a few cents of one another.
Chick-fil-A’s menu also continues to give fans reasons to visit beyond price shopping. The chain is currently advertising limited-time Chicken & Waffles items alongside its core sandwiches and nuggets, with the same reminder that price and availability vary by location.
The cheapest store may be closer than you think
For customers, the practical lesson is simple: checking the app before ordering can reveal more than whether a restaurant is open. It can also show whether another nearby location charges less for the same meal. That can matter on road trips or in dense metro areas where several Chick-fil-A restaurants sit within a relatively short drive.
The Reddit project does not establish that Chick-fil-A is unusually expensive overall, and its crowdsourced comparisons need context. What it does highlight is something the company openly acknowledges: there is no single nationwide Chick-fil-A price. For people with several restaurants nearby, location may now be another part of deciding what to order.
