One of downtown Detroit’s best-known dining destinations has served its final meal. After more than a decade of welcoming guests for date nights, celebrations and happy hours, Wright & Company closed earlier this summer, marking the end of an era for the city’s acclaimed restaurant scene.
Final service after 12 successful years
Located on the second floor of the historic Wright-Kay Building at 1500 Woodward Avenue, Wright & Company held its final public dinner service on July 3 after 12 years in business. Since opening in 2014, the restaurant earned a reputation for its contemporary small plates, craft cocktails and elegant atmosphere overlooking downtown Detroit.
The restaurant became a staple of Detroit’s dining renaissance, drawing both locals and visitors with favorites such as pork belly sliders, tuna tartare and inventive seasonal dishes. Chef and co-owner Marc Djozlija also received national recognition, including a James Beard Award nomination, helping establish Wright & Company as one of the city’s premier culinary destinations.
A new chapter for the historic space
In announcing the closure, management thanked customers for making the restaurant part of countless milestones over the past decade. While dinner service has ended, the owners said the venue will continue honoring private event bookings, including weddings and other celebrations, as they prepare to transition the space into a new restaurant concept.
