A well-known Beverly Hills restaurant that attracted celebrities and diners with its signature garlic noodles and roasted crab has closed its longtime location after nearly three decades in business. The restaurant’s departure marked the end of an era for the family-owned establishment, which helped popularize modern Asian fusion cuisine in Los Angeles.
Restaurant closes after decades in Beverly Hills
Crustacean Beverly Hills permanently closed its Bedford Drive location at the end of October 2026, ending a nearly 30-year run in the upscale Los Angeles-area city.
The restaurant was founded by chef Helene An and her family in 1997. It became known for blending Vietnamese, Chinese, and French culinary influences, along with signature dishes such as garlic noodles and roasted Dungeness crab.
Over the years, Crustacean attracted a high-profile clientele that included celebrities and entertainment industry figures. Its distinctive interior and reputation for Asian fusion dining helped make it a recognizable destination in Beverly Hills.
The closure followed the sale of the building that housed the restaurant. The property’s new landlord had different plans for the site, leaving the An family without a long-term future at the location. Rising business costs in Los Angeles County also contributed to the decision to leave the area, according to reporting by Page Six.
Restaurant group plans expansion beyond California
Although the Beverly Hills restaurant closed, the An family planned to continue the Crustacean brand elsewhere. The company announced plans for new locations in Atlanta, Honolulu, and Sun Valley, Idaho.
Crustacean’s departure reflects the challenges facing some established restaurants in expensive markets, where rent, labor, and other operating expenses can make long-term operations increasingly difficult. For Beverly Hills, the closure marked the loss of a restaurant that had served generations of diners since the late 1990s.
