A California airline-catering facility near San Francisco International Airport was listed for permanent closure, adding another food operation to the stateโs recent losses after a frozen-food factory announced a separate shutdown. The Flying Food Group site in Burlingame affects 72 jobs, according to California WARN data.
The filing names the facility at 50 Adrian Court and lists October 13, 2026, as the closureโs effective date. The notice describes the action as permanent and says 72 jobs are affected.

What the Burlingame facility handled
Flying Food Group is an airline-catering company with operations at major airports around the country. Its teams prepare, assemble and move meals and other onboard supplies for airline customers.
The Burlingame operation served airlines flying through SFO. Airport officials said in 2025 that Flying Food Group held direct contracts with 18 carriers at the airport, while recent reporting identified Air France, ANA and Lufthansa among the companyโs customers.
The closure affects 72 workers
The permanent closure notice covers 72 employees. Reported affected positions include station attendants, porters, managers and a cook, illustrating the range of food preparation and support work involved in getting meals onto flights.
Many employees at the facility are represented by Unite Here Local 2. About 30 drivers represented by Teamsters Local 2785 were not included in the layoffs, according to the union official quoted by SFGATE.
Airline consolidation changed the work
A Teamsters representative attributed the cuts to airline consolidation after Alaska Airlines acquired Hawaiian Airlines. The representative said changes to Hawaiianโs routes shifted the work to another catering provider.
Alaska Airlines told SFGATE that its Bay Area catering needs had not declined and that the change reflected business consolidation among its catering partners. That means the closure does not signal an end to airline meal service at SFO; the work is being redistributed among vendors.
The effective date has passed
The WARN filing lists October 13 as both the closure date and the effective date for the 72 job cuts. It does not provide a worker-by-worker schedule or identify any positions that may have continued temporarily after that date.
Flying Food Group remains a national operation despite the Burlingame action. The company previously listed 19 facilities, including another California location serving Los Angeles International Airport. For San Mateo County, however, the filing represents the loss of a local airline-food preparation site and dozens of specialized catering jobs.
