Cherry fruit snacks recipe
First, gather your ingredients. They are:
- 1 Cup Cherry Juice, divided
- 3 Tablespoons Gelatin
- 1/2 Cup Raw Honey (other natural sweeteners will work too)
- Pinch of Sea Salt
And after that, it’s pretty simple:
- Sprinkle gelatin over 1/2 cup of cherry juice. Let the gelatin and juice sit for a few minutes while the gelatin absorbs the juice.
- Heat the remaining 1/2 cup of cherry juice over medium heat. Bring to a boil. Take the juice off the heat and add honey and salt.
- Mix well and pour over the gelatin mix. Stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Pour into molds (if using) or into a 8×8 pan. Refrigerate until the fruit snacks are set, 2-4 hours.

Don’t understand the need for the sweetener/honey. I thought it was a must for the recipe to work. I find them way too sweet. Trying with only juice ☺

I tried these with pineapple juice instead and they turned out pretty good! The honey is very overpowering though. What would you suggest to remedy this?
Does adding the honey to the just boiling juice defeat the purpose of using raw honey?
Hello! So I have Cherry Concentrate. Could I use that along with water instead of juice? And do you happen to know the ratios I would use if I went that route? Thanks!!
Hi Erica… I tried them with cherry concentrate. I used 1/2 cup concentrate & 1/2 cup boiling water & skipped the honey. Turned out ????
Where did you buy your adorable molds? They are perfect for this treat!
Hello,
I was wondering if you could make these with carrageenan, agar-agar, pectin or chia. If so, how much would you use? The same amounts? We don’t eat gelatin in our house any longer.
Thank you.
where do you buy your cherry juice?
Where do you get cherry juice?
What do you think of making these with fruit teas? As a diabetic, I try to avoid getting too many carbs and cherry juice is pretty high. Thanks for your help.
I am an adult but I love fruit snacks and jello. It is something I have had to quit eating for the most part because I am very allergic to red dye. I have been able to find some substitutes thanks to so many amazing blogs. thank you for posting 🙂
I have see a few recipes for homemade fruit snacks, are these like jello gigglers of chewy like fruit snacks. Also, do they have to stay in the fridge?
Hi Rhonda – They have a texture in between jello gigglers and chewy fruit snacks. I would recommend keeping them in the fridge also 🙂
Thanks for this recipe! I will try it will all sorts of juices. So, just how much gelatin should we be getting per day?
These sound delicious! And they are beautiful, too! I think I should make some today! 🙂
