All across America, restaurants are going dark.
“Closed” signs are popping up as jobs disappear.
The downturn has come for everyone – even Chick-fil-A.
(Even recently winning the crown for America’s favorite fried chicken isn’t enough to save it from the impacts.)

While the specifics of how tariffs and the trade war impact every individual restaurant’s supply chain aren’t (and can’t) be known right now…
The impacts of the economic slowdown associated with the trade war are coming into clearer focus.
With dire impacts that are rippling throughout the broader restaurant industry. And of course, that all piles on top of the underlying issues already impacting restaurants – inflation, food costs, plus customer price sensitivity, and greater competition.
(And that goes double for Chick-fil-A, as the fried chicken wars are heating up.)
So is it any wonder that even Chick-fil-A is closing down restaurants?
Here are two that recently went dark:
- The Chick-fil-A at the Stonecrest Mall in Lithonia, Georgia permanently closed at the end of July after over 20+ years in operation.
- The Chick-fil-A at Regions Plaza in downtown Jackson, Mississippi closed earlier this year after 30+ years of serving the local community.
Every restaurant closure is sad.
But longtime pillars of the community disappearing? Those are true tragedies.
