Intro

To know Cracker Barrel is to love Cracker Barrel –
Good food, plenty of it, traditional recipes, and warm hospitality.
Of course, all too many places (I’m looking at you, Shoneys) sit on their laurels and never innovate until it’s clear that they’re wayyyy out of date.
Fortunately, Cracker Barrel doesn’t have this issue.
And in fact…

Intro (continued)

They’ve added a bunch of new stuff to their menu for 2025 that has all true Cracker Barrel fans excited for what they’ll come up with next.
Most are new, although a few are old favorites, brought out of retirement for one last hurrah.
And the first one is so obvious in retrospect, you’ll wonder why Cracker Barrel didn’t have it already…

Blueberry pancake plate

The dish is pretty simple – two blueberry buttermilk pancakes plus two eggs, plus a breakfast meat and blueberry syrup.
It’s kind of incredible that Cracker Barrel didn’t already have this offering. So, honestly, that was a bit of a surprise.
By the way, your breakfast meat options:
Free:
– Bacon
– Smoked sausage
Upcharge:
– Impossible sausage ($1.99)
– Spicy chicken sausage ($1.99)
– Sugar cured ham ($3.19)
– Country ham ($3.19)

Chocolate chip pancake plate

Basically it’s exactly the same as the blueberry pancake plate, but with two key differences:
– chocolate chips instead of blueberries in the pancakes
– Regular syrup instead of blueberry syrup
(Although it’s worth noting that you can still sub in blueberry syrup, sugarfree maple syrup, strawberry syrup, or butter pecan syrup instead.)

BBQ bacon smokestack

Usually I’m skeptical of places that don’t specialize in burgers serving up burgers (is Cracker Barrel really going to be better at this than, say, Five Guys?), but the BBQ bacon smokestack is an exception.
It’s a half-pound burger with bacon, American cheese, fried onions, pickles, and then both BBQ sauce and “Country Comeback Sauce” which adds some more zesty tang to the whole thing.
Oh, and it’s served with a side of your choice. There are a bunch of options, some free and some upcharge…

Cinnamon roll skillet

Six mini cinnamon rolls in a black skillet – obviously you know what’s next: Cinnamon filling and cream cheese icing.

Campfire chicken (or beef)

If you haven’t been camping in a bit and want to get that deliciously smoky flavor…I highly recommend Cracker Barrel’s new campfire chicken.
(This dish is actually an old friend from seven years ago that’s back from retirement!)
You get half of a chicken, plus two short cobs of corn, carrots, potatoes, onions, and tomatoes – all in a very buttery broth. (And on the side you can get biscuits or corn muffins.)
Plus…if you don’t love chicken, you can get the campfire beef – same dish, just with hunks of beef instead of the half chicken.

Campfire shrimp skillet

The campfire shrimp skillet still lives into that campfire concept, but it’s just a little bit different.
Instead of a foil-lined plate, you get it in a skillet – and the ingredients are a little different.
You get shrimp, andouille sausage, potatoes, and two small corn cobs (no carrots, tomatoes, and onions).
Plus, of course, either corn muffins or buttermilk biscuits.

Onion petals

Imagine a deconstructed Bloomin’ Onion, and you’re pretty close to Cracker Barrel’s onion petals. They’re pieces of onion, fried, seasoned with garlic salt,a nd then served with a zesty comeback dipping sauce.
They’re good!
(Maybe not quite as good as Outback’s. But they’re also only $6.29 as an appetizer, and as I mentioned earlier, you can get them as a side for a $3 upcharge, so…a good value!)
