Want to naturally cleanse your face? This detox face mask is my go-to product for keeping my skin clean and clear.

Bentonite clay is a “superfood” I often use in my home. It has cleansing and detoxifying effects that are beneficial to our bodies internally and externally. When used on the skin, bentonite clay will help draw out and absorb impurities. This makes it a wonderful ingredient to use in homemade skin care products like this detox face mask.
This clay mask also calls for coconut oil, lemon juice and honey which help clean the skin with their anti-bacterial properties.

My four-year old daughter Naomi loves to make homemade beauty products with me and asked to test out this mask when I made it recently.

Detox Face Mask
Want to naturally cleanse your face? This detox face mask is my go-to product for keeping my skin clean and clear.
Ingredients
- 2 Tablespoons Bentonite Clay
- 1 Teaspoon Virgin Coconut Oil
- 1/2 Tablespoon Raw Honey
- Juice of half a lemon
- Water*
Instructions
- Mix the ingredients together and apply to your freshly washed face. Let the mask sit for 10 minutes before rinsing.
- Use as desired. I make this mask once a month, but if you are prone to oily skin you may want to use it more often.
*If your mask is too thick to spread, add some water to thin it out enough to spread it.

I used a drop of lemon oil and it came out too pasty and wouldn’t stick. I added some fresh lemon juice and still didn’t work. I then added some water until it became smooth and more runny and it then worked perfectly.

Basically, honey may come in numerous types and one of the extremely
unique varieties of honey ever created includes the
Rape Honey of also known as the Canola which has been coined from your phrase Canadian oil and
was made from your rapeseed plant. For many years, honey involved the only real substitute for sugar available, and honey recently comparable level of calories and sugar as regular refined sugar does.
If marketed to retailers, the value is different from six to ten cents for extracted honey and
from 10-15 cents for comb honey.
This recipe didn’t work for me at all. Ingredients formed a lumpy ball and it wouldn’t stick to my face. What a waste of my products!

I’m sorry to hear that! I’ve made this several times without a problem.
Hi! What a great sounding recipe!! I have a question though is there a good shelf life? I would love to make a batch of this so it’s ready to go when I need it. I imagine that it should hold nicely especially because of the lemon but not sure how long the shelf life would be our if it’ll have to be stored a certain way other than an air tight container. ..
Just a heads up the mixture may need some tweaking as far as the amounts of each ingredient. If you’ve ever stepped in dog poo and had to scrape it off your shoe, that is basically the texture of this mask lol
How long does this last and does it need to be refrigerated
Add more lemon juice to thin it out. Lemon juice really helps to clean out the pores.
Amazing face mask!! I tried it and posted it on my blog because I loved it so much! Thanks so much for sharing this!
I tried this following exact directions and mine also came out like a clumpy putty that wouldn’t stick to my face 🙁
any suggestions?
What is the shelf life of something like this if I wanted to make a bigger batch?
Do you think yl lemon oil would work also and if so how many drops would you suggest!
I didn’t measure out the ingredients but I suggest letting this sit for a few minutes so everything can come together properly.
When I applied right after mixing it started to fall right off my face and into large clumps.
I had this problem too. I mixed it just like it said and it just got clumpy and wouldn’t stick to my face.

In reading the comments from Amazon reviewers I’m concerned since several people said that Lead is on the ingredients list, and it says not to use on children.
The lead is not a pollutant and not a by-product of manufacturing. It is naturally occurring and in small enough amounts that it will not cause harm. It is part of the natural ingredients of clay dirt.
Hi, this looks great! I wonder, does this make enough for just one mask application, or is there enough for a couple of uses? If there’s enough for multiple uses, how do you store the extra and how long is it good for? Thanks!
i make this combo all the time except without the lemon juice. i ran out of clay a few weeks ago and my face is not looking good : (
need to make a trip out to the health food store!
