Thirteen Domino’s restaurants across Ohio have abruptly shut their doors, leaving customers without nearby locations and employees facing uncertainty. The closures stem from a franchisee dispute, but Domino’s says it is working to bring the affected restaurants back under new ownership.
13 Domino’s locations abruptly close
The affected restaurants were operated by Mile High Pizza Company, a business led by longtime Domino’s franchisee Anthony Satterwhite. The closures occurred across north-central Ohio, affecting communities including Mansfield, Akron, Ashland, Barberton, Galion, and Wadsworth.
Domino’s confirmed the closures on September 14, describing the situation as an “isolated franchisee matter” that does not reflect the overall performance of the pizza chain. The company also said it was actively working to transition the restaurants to new owners so customers could continue ordering from Domino’s in their communities.
The affected locations include three restaurants in Mansfield, along with stores in Canal Fulton, Ashland, Galion, Crestline, Akron, Barberton, Mount Gilead, and Wadsworth. The chain confirmed 13 closures, although early reporting initially identified only 11 addresses.
Will the Ohio restaurants reopen?
The future of the shuttered restaurants depends on whether Domino’s can successfully transfer them to new operators. The company has not announced a reopening date for the affected locations.
The franchisee, which had not filed for bankruptcy at the time of the announced closures, operated at least 21 Domino’s restaurants as of the end of 2025, according to the chain’s franchise disclosure documents. Mile High Pizza had also advertised additional restaurants in development, illustrating the scale of the franchise operation before the shutdowns.
Despite the abrupt closures, Domino’s has emphasized that the situation is specific to the former franchisee rather than a broader decision to retreat from Ohio. For customers in affected communities, however, it remains unclear when or whether their neighborhood restaurants will reopen.
