Intro

If you’ve been to a Buc-ee’s, you know just how special they are.
The food.
The sauce.
The drinks.
The clothes.
The plushies!
If you haven’t been to a Buc-ee’s yet and you live in these eight states, then I have good news…
Because every one of these seven states is just about to get their very first Buc-ee’s!
(And one is even about to get an unprecedented THREE new Buc-ee’s.)

Careful growth

Buc-ee’s has been incredibly selective in where it decides to build.
The reason? Buc-ee’s business depends on a TON of visitors.
Plus, let’s face it, Buc-ee’s has only been expanding outside Texas since 2019, so they’re still very much feeling out “what works, where” around the country.
After all – Buc-ee’s has created something truly special. They’ve built a reputation for fantastic customer service and amazing products…and it only takes one bad visit to mess that up.
Which is why…

This surprised me

Given that Buc-ee’s has tended to take a slow, measured approach…
I was surprised to discover that Buc-ee’s plans to open a whopping THREE new stores (with a rumored fourth) in just one state in the near future.
(For reference, only one state has more than three Buc-ee’s built right now – and that’s Texas, where it originated!)
But clearly Buc-ee’s knows exactly what they’re doing – can’t argue with success!
Which is why I’m so thrilled to see that our first state, having been skipped over, is now set to get its first Buc-ee’s in just a few months:

#1: Mississippi

Mississippi is about to get its VERY FIRST Buc-ee’s – in Harrison County on the Gulf Coast.
The location – which opened THIS MORNING after a really cool soft opening on Friday – is in Pass Christian, right along I-10.

#2: Ohio

Ohio is also on track to get its very first Buc-ee’s, this time in Huber Heights.
If you haven’t heard of Huber Heights, the key thing to know is that it’s right at the I-70 and I-75 interchange, making it an ideal location for tons of traffic going through the American heartland to points north, south, east, and west. (Or at least between Columbus and Indianapolis.)
Construction is expected to complete sometime in early 2026 after delays related to water issues.

#3: Wisconsin

Also on the list of firsts is Wisconsin – the Madison suburb of DeForest got a proposal from Buc-ee’s last year to start development – a strategic move that could put Buc-ee’s solidly on I-90 to capture all of the traffic between Madison and Minneapolis.

#4: Louisiana

Ruston is home to the announced site for Buc-ee’s’ very first Louisiana location, just off I-20 and across from the local junior high school. (The grand opening date isn’t confirmed yet, but it looks like construction should complete in late 2025 or early 2026.)
Those kids’ parents are gonna be broke!

#5: Virginia

Virginia’s first Buc-ee’s is slated to open in Rockingham County at the end of this month.
Buc-ee’s also bought 28 acres in New Kent County for a second location, and is currently negotiating with Stafford County for a third.
This would put Buc-ee’s along all three major Virginia highways – I-64 (New Kent), I-81 (Rockingham), and I-95 (Stafford).

#6: Arkansas

If you figured Arkansas already had a Buc-ee’s…well, I did too.
But it turns out it doesn’t! Buc-ee’s skipped right past it to go to Georgia and Florida.
West Memphis, Arkansas will be the location, and they’re expecting to break ground sometime in 2025.

#7: Kansas

Kansas’ first Buc-ee’s was just approved to be built near Kansas City, extremely close to the raceway.
It’s a natural location for Buc-ee’s – tons of traffic, in fact Buc-ee’s is predicting over 4 million annual visitors!

#8: North Carolina

South Carolina has had a Buc-ee’s for a little while now, but finally its northern neighbor is set to get one!
(And not a moment too soon – you don’t want to get leapfrogged by Virginia, right?)
Buc-ee’s will be opening in Mebane, which is a suburb midway between Greensboro and Chapel Hill / Durham straddling I-40 and Route 70, which are the two main ways to travel between those cities.
Another great location for traffic!
Construction is expected to complete sometime this year.

Bonus: Florida (not getting its first, but getting a ton)

While Florida already has two Buc-ee’s (one in Daytona Beach, one in Saint Augustine), both accessing the I-95 corridor, the state has big plans for three more Buc-ee’s.
(Including one just an hour north of Disney!)
Obviously Florida’s not a “new” state, but it’s going to be newly dominated by Buc-ee’s, for sure!
Exciting days ahead…

Summary

So there you have it – eight states getting their very first Buc-ee’s. (And in some cases, second and third!)
Congratulations folks, your lives are going to be so much better!
But of course that means there’s one BIG question remaining…
Shutterstock
Where should Buc-ee’s go next?

But where do YOU think Buc-ee’s should open up next?
My personal vote is New York – think of all the people who can’t get Beaver Nuggets up there!
But what’s your vote?
