Whose coffee is better? Starbucks or Dunkin’?
It’s such a hot debate with strong support on both sides.
But today, we settle it by running the coffees through five categories:

This one’s tough. Starbucks has so many fans and tons of social media love (18 million Instagram followers vs. Dunkin’s 3 million).
But Dunkin’s fans in New England burn hotter than Starbucks stans in the Pacific Northwest.

While Dunkin’ has a decent number of options, Starbucks is comical in its customization options (especially if you’re a ninja on its app, adjusting number of pumps, half-caffing, etc.)
We could argue that Starbucks actually has TOO many options, but…

Starbucks has double the “lightening” options of Dunkin’.
For example, while Dunkin’ has skim and whole milk, Starbucks also has 2%. And it not only has the almond milk and oat milk dairy alternatives that Dunkin’ has, but it also has coconut milk and soy milk.

I still remember when people would call it Fourbucks as an insult. Inflation has made $4 for a fully customized Starbucks coffee seem like a half-off deal!
Dunkin’ is known for more basic coffees and has the reputation as a cheaper option, but when you compare apples to apples it’s closer than you’d think.
Still, we’ll give Dunkin’ the edge here…

Woo boy, talk about a heated discussion. Starbucks haters point to that burnt taste while Dunkin’ haters point to a watered-down taste.
Both have some mitigations. For instance, the Americano at Dunkin’ has a deeper flavor than its regular joe. And Starbucks has its blonde roast for those who want a smoother taste.
Fortune favors the bold…

Starbucks takes home the “Better Coffee” crown today in a 3-2 win.
Dunkin’ is the more affordable coffee and has more ardent fans, but Starbucks wins on taste, milk options, and variety of options.
