Starbucks has another Halloween surprise on the way: a Black Cat Frappuccino with chocolate cat ears, scheduled to reach select U.S. coffeehouses October 22. It will arrive alongside an oversized black cocoa cookie, giving customers two limited-time treats just ahead of Halloween.
For fans used to choosing among Starbucks’ most popular drinks, this is a more theatrical seasonal option. There is one important catch: the company has said the launch applies to select locations, not every Starbucks nationwide.

What is the Black Cat Frappuccino?
According to Starbucks, the new drink is a chocolate cake-flavored Crème Frappuccino blended beverage. It is topped with whipped cream and chocolate shaped to look like a cat’s ears. The details make it a dessert-like choice with a recognizable Halloween silhouette.
The company calls the accompanying cookie the Venti Black Night Cookie. It is a large, shareable black cocoa cookie with pieces of caramel fudge and caramelized white chocolate. The cookie and drink are separate products, not a required combination meal.
Both items are scheduled for October 22 as limited-time offerings. Starbucks has not given a universal selling price for either item in the announcement of the Halloween lineup, so local menu prices will be the practical guide.
Why some Starbucks customers may not find it
The location restriction is important. A customer who sees the drink promoted on social media may assume every neighborhood store will carry it. Starbucks used the words “select U.S. coffeehouses,” so availability may be limited by market or store.
The same caveat applies to the Venti Black Night Cookie. Checking the app or asking a nearby cafe about the October 22 offerings is a better approach than assuming the products will automatically appear on every menu.
More Halloween items are already part of the season
The treats are part of a broader collection Starbucks announced in September. Seasonal merchandise includes a pumpkin-shaped black cat mug, a cauldron-style mug, a glow-in-the-dark black cat cold cup and a Bearista plush bag charm dressed in a cat costume.
Starbucks listed prices ranging from $14.95 for the charm to $29.95 for the black cat cold cup in its original announcement. The merchandise launched earlier in the season at select stores, with supplies limited.
For drink customers, the date to remember is October 22. Whether the Black Cat Frappuccino becomes a cult Halloween favorite remains to be seen, but its announced rollout is narrower than a standard nationwide Starbucks launch.
