Mississippi has enjoyed its first Buc-ee’s for more than a year, but the outlook for a second has not changed since this look at Mississippi’s chances of getting another Buc-ee’s. As of July 2026, the company has not announced another Mississippi location.
That leaves the Harrison County travel center as the state’s only Buc-ee’s.
The store opened June 9, 2025, at 8245 Firetower Road near Pass Christian. It sits beside Interstate 10 at the Menge Avenue exit, between Gulfport and Bay St. Louis.
The location was built to serve far more than nearby residents. I-10 carries travelers across the entire Gulf Coast, while the Mississippi beaches, casinos and New Orleans metro area generate additional traffic.
At 74,000 square feet, the store includes 120 fueling positions, 24 electric-vehicle chargers and enough food, merchandise and bathrooms to make it a destination rather than a typical highway stop.
No second Mississippi store appears on the schedule
Buc-ee’s publishes a list of estimated future openings extending through 2031. It includes new locations in Tennessee, Texas, Louisiana, Kansas, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida and South Carolina, among other states.
Mississippi does not appear anywhere on that future schedule.
No Mississippi city or county has announced a land agreement, zoning application or development proposal tied to another Buc-ee’s, either. That makes rumors about a second store speculative for now.
Where could Buc-ee’s build next?
If Buc-ee’s eventually decides to add another Mississippi location, the most logical opportunities would be away from the Gulf Coast.
The Jackson area would give the chain access to the intersection of I-20 and I-55. An I-20 location farther east could serve Meridian and drivers moving between Jackson and Alabama, while the Hattiesburg area could attract traffic traveling between central Mississippi and the coast.
Northern Mississippi may also become more appealing as Buc-ee’s develops stores around Memphis. A location along I-55 or I-22 could serve DeSoto County, Tupelo or travelers moving between Memphis and Birmingham.
Those possibilities fit Buc-ee’s highway-focused strategy, but none has been confirmed.
For now, the latest update is straightforward: Mississippi still has one Buc-ee’s, and the company has not revealed where or when it might build a second. Until a land purchase or local development filing surfaces, Pass Christian remains the state’s only place to find the full-sized Buc-ee’s experience.
