Intro

If you know Outback Steakhouse, you know they’re all about big, rich meals.
Steak. Seafood. Burgers. Bloomin’ Onions.
All the good stuff.
Honestly, I think Outback is probably one of the best-tasting chains out there.

Intro

(Ignore the haters. They’re just jealous.)
But it’s interesting – talk to most people, and they’ll generally assume that Outback is all fat and no protein.
There are actually a number of great options at Outback that pack on at least 60 grams of protein, while still tasting great.
Some of them are steaks, sure, but many aren’t.
Here are nine of my favorites:
Shutterstock
#1: Victoria’s filet mignon (8 oz)

Protein: 62 grams
No surprise here – there’s tons of good, healthy protein in a lean cut of steak like Victoria’s filet mignon.
And is there really any better steak than a good filet?
Aside from, of course…

#2: Melbourne Porterhouse (22 oz)

Protein: 102 grams
The Melbourne Porterhouse packs a huge wallop at 22 ounces of steak and 102 grams of protein.
It’s the sort of thing you should only get if you’re protein-loading like mad. Or ridiculously hungry. Or sharing.
(Especially once you add in the two sides.)

#3: Toowoomba salmon

Protein: 62 grams
Salmon is, of course, well known for being a high-quality protein that’s got incredible nutrient density – Omega-3 fatty acids, B vitamins (B12, B6, niacin, etc.), and of course loads of antioxidants.
It also tastes great, especially when topped with shrimp and mushrooms in a crole sauce (as Outback does it).
And again, you get two sides! Who doesn’t love that?

#4: Sirloin (8 oz) + grilled shrimp on the barbie

Protein: 67 grams
I’ve always been a surf ‘n turf guy myself, but even if you aren’t, trust me that this combination of succulent and well-seasoned shrimp…
Plus a solid 8 oz sirloin…
Is just perfect for a filling meal.
(Especially if you’re not going for the comically large Porterhouse.)
Totally delicious, totally satiating.

#5: Caramel mustard glaze pork chop

Protein: 83 grams
Honestly, this has gotta be one of the highest-protein pork chop dishes I’ve seen.
Eighty-three grams is no joke!
And while I’ve never gotten much of the caramel taste – sorry Outback – the mustard glaze is absolutely enthralling.
My two cents? Get it with the asparagus and the seasoned rice.

#6: Grilled chicken on the barbie

Protein: 62 grams
Outback’s grilled chicken on the barbie is just fine – sorry again, Outback – but the bbq sauce it comes with is absolutely delicious!
And when you consider that it’s just 520 calories (plus your sides – but at 520 calories, you can splurge a little and go with the fries), it’s a great healthy addition to any lineup.

#7: Classic prime rib (16 oz)

Protein: 76 grams
The fact that Outback’s prime rib has *checks notes* 76 grams of protein is pretty wild.
But of course, that’s what happens when you have a full pound of carefully prepared meat!
Plus, of course, two sides. Add in the steakhous mac & cheese, and you’ll clear 100 grams of protein, no problem.

#8: Aussie cobb salad with grilled chicken or girlled salmon (no dressing)

Protein: 66 grams (chicken) or 72 grams (salmon)
Whoever said that a salad will never fill you up had very clearly never eaten at Outback Steakhouse.
Their cobb salad is plenty hearty, and it gets you a ton of protein in addition to loads of great taste.
Shutterstock
#9: Aussie cheese fries

Protein: 89 grams
Ok, maybe you shouldn’t get the Aussie cheese fries as your meal, but let’s all be honest – it would be pretty epic, right?
And at 89 grams of protein (and…182 grams of fat), you certainly wouldn’t be leaving hungry!
Pretty wild that they pack in that much protein.

Summary

So there you have it – nine Outback Steakhouse offerings that have at least 60 grams of protein (and in some cases quite a bit more)…
And still taste great!
Proof that you don’t have to sacrifice taste for protein.
So…
