Virginia’s Buc-ee’s craze isn’t slowing down anytime soon — and now, a third location may finally be headed to Northern Virginia.
The Texas-based travel center chain, famous for its massive stores, clean bathrooms, and iconic Beaver Nuggets, opened its first Virginia Buc-ee’s on June 30, 2025, in Mount Crawford off I-81. At 74,000 square feet with 120 fuel pumps and hundreds of parking spaces, it instantly became one of the largest convenience stores on the East Coast. Fans have driven hours from all over the state just to visit — creating frequent traffic jams and viral videos on opening week.

Next up, Buc-ee’s has already announced a second Virginia location in New Kent County, just east of Richmond, along I-64. Construction is underway, and the store is expected to open in 2027, further cementing Buc-ee’s expansion across the Commonwealth.
But what’s really exciting locals now is the third proposed Buc-ee’s, this time in Stafford County — just off I-95 and Courthouse Road. If approved, this would officially bring Buc-ee’s to Northern Virginia for the first time, making the wildly popular travel center far more accessible to D.C.-area travelers.
The planned Stafford site would include a 74,000-square-foot store, 120 fueling stations, and over 800 parking spots — matching the company’s largest stores in the country. A public hearing is set for October 29, 2025, as part of the Stafford County Planning Commission’s review process.
Not everyone is thrilled, though. Local residents have raised concerns about traffic, noise, and environmental impacts from such a large development. Buc-ee’s has faced similar pushback in other states, often leading to project adjustments or added traffic improvements.
If the Stafford project is approved, it will mark a major milestone — bringing Buc-ee’s closer to the Washington, D.C. metro area than ever before. Fans won’t have to trek to Mount Crawford or wait for New Kent much longer.
For now, the big question remains: Will Northern Virginia finally get its Buc-ee’s? We’ll get closer to the answer by the end of the month.
