A longtime fixture of Delray Beach’s dining scene has closed its doors after nearly two decades in business.
Cut 432, an upscale steakhouse located on Atlantic Avenue, ceased operations at the end of April after serving customers for 18 years. The restaurant had become one of the area’s most recognizable dining destinations, known for its prime steaks, extensive wine program, and lively atmosphere. The restaurant was opened by Modern Restaurant Group and was the company’s first establishment.
The closure marks another loss for Florida’s restaurant industry, which has faced mounting pressures from rising costs, labor challenges, and increasing occupancy expenses.
Rent increase reportedly sparked closure
According to reports, the primary factor behind the closure was a significant rent increase sought by the property’s landlord. An employee familiar with the situation told local media that the increase exceeded $100,000, prompting ownership to leave the location rather than absorb the higher costs.
The closure has sparked discussion among local residents and diners, with many expressing disappointment over the loss of a restaurant that had become a staple of downtown Delray Beach. Others pointed to rising commercial rents as an ongoing challenge for independent restaurant operators.
Owners planning a comeback
While the Atlantic Avenue location is now closed, ownership says the Cut 432 brand is not disappearing.
A message posted by the restaurant indicates that Modern Restaurant Group is designing a new space for the concept and intends to reopen in a different location. The company said the goal is to expand and elevate the brand while remaining true to the qualities that made it popular with customers for nearly two decades.
