A longtime Maine seafood restaurant has permanently closed its doors after three decades of serving locals and summer visitors. Bayley’s Seafood Restaurant in Scarborough ended its 30-year run this month, bringing an end to a longtime Pine Point dining tradition.

Bayley’s Seafood Restaurant served its final customers on August 20, according to the restaurant’s announcement and local news reports. The restaurant opened in 1995 at 165 Pine Point Road and remained family-owned throughout its three decades in business.
The restaurant was known for classic Maine seafood dishes, including fried whole-belly clams, fried haddock, lobster dinners, chowder, and fisherman’s platters. Its location near Pine Point Beach made it a popular stop for both local residents and seasonal visitors.
Owners called closure a difficult decision
Bayley’s announced the closure on social media on August 20, describing it as a “very difficult decision.” The owners did not provide a specific reason for shutting down.
“This has been an incredibly meaningful chapter, and we are so grateful to everyone who supported us, shared a meal with us, celebrated with us, and made memories inside these walls,” the restaurant said in its announcement.
The owners also thanked their employees, customers, friends, and the broader community for supporting the restaurant throughout its history.
Restaurant had only recently reopened
The closure came during Bayley’s first summer back in operation after an extended hiatus. The restaurant had been closed since 2022 following significant damage caused by a burst pipe and eventually reopened in October 2025 after years of repairs and setbacks.
That made the permanent closure particularly notable for longtime customers who had only recently welcomed the restaurant back.
